Three roads, three experiences
The Lower Corniche
At the water’s edge, through Villefranche-sur-Mer, Beaulieu and Cap-d’Ail. The gentlest road, with no hairpins, arriving right at harbour level. It runs through every village on the way: ideal in the middle of the day, slower at rush hour and on summer evenings.
The Middle Corniche
The best of both: it overlooks the bay of Villefranche, passes below the village of Èze and drops into Monaco from the top of town. Fewer traffic lights than the seafront road, wide views over the cape, and a steady drive we often pick for a first transfer.
The Grande Corniche
The most spectacular viewpoints, over the Col d’Èze and through La Turbie, above the Trophy of Augustus. The slowest of the three, with its high bends. For when the journey should be part of the trip, or for a sightseeing return run.
The A8 motorway
From the airport, the A8 skirts Nice to the north instead of crossing the city and the Promenade des Anglais. It is often the fastest road when the corniches are busy. Your chauffeur decides at departure, on real traffic and the time of your appointment.

How far and how long is Nice to Monaco?
About 30 km, or 40 to 50 minutes depending on the coastal road and traffic. We track your flight and adjust the route in real time.

Whichever is moving at departure. The A8 avoids crossing Nice, the Middle Corniche is the most predictable, and the Lower Corniche is the most pleasant outside rush hour. If you want a particular road, for the view or for a stop, say so when you book.
Do I need a document to cross from France into Monaco?
No. The road border is open and Monaco is part of the Schengen area: no stop, and no document beyond the one you entered France with.
Can we stop in Èze or Villefranche on the way?
Yes. A stop for lunch, a visit to Èze village or a photo over the bay of Villefranche can be planned when you book, or simply asked of your chauffeur on the road.
Will my luggage fit in a sedan?
An S-Class sedan suits two passengers with two large suitcases. Beyond that, or with golf bags and pushchairs, we send a V-Class van: give the number of bags when you request your quote.
